We’ve updated the North Yorkshire database with walks in Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Beauty, and the Borough of Harrogate. These include a range of walks through woodland, countryside and parkland across a stunning area. We’ve also got walks to help you explore the local towns and villages and find out more about the heritage and history of the region.

Harrogate Borough Walks


Harrogate is a pretty spa town and popular tourist spot in North Yorkshire, and it sits in the middle of its own larger borough which includes the surrounding towns of Ripon, Knaresbrough, Boroughbridge and Masham. It also includes some of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which we have treated as a separate area. There are a range of town, country, woodland and waterside walks in Harrogate Borough, as well as lovely parkland around Fountains Abbey.

Hambleton Walks


Hambleton is one of North Yorkshire’s local government districts. The main town is Northallerton, and the area also includes Thirsk, Bedale, Great Ayton, Stokesley and Easingwold. The area is named after the Hambleton Hills which are on the edge of the North York Moors. There are a number of lovely countryside walks as well as some excellent local walking groups which have created a number of easy access and health walks in Hambleton across the area’s towns and villages.

North Yorkshire is the largest ceremonial county in England and is a walking haven. Not only do the the majority of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors lie within the boundaries of North Yorkshire, but it has two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – Nidderdale and the Howardian Hills. The area includes a number of famous Yorkshire coastal towns, including Filey, Scarborough and Whitby, and some amazing towns and cities such as Harrogate, Northallerton and of course the historic city of York.
